Frequently Asked Questions

What is the international payment process?

This form of payment processing involves transactions between different countries. That usually means converting currencies, complying with the regulations of the different countries, and working within international banking systems.

In simplest terms, a customer chooses a payment method and completes their transaction. Then, the international merchant's payment gateway accepts and encrypts the transaction data. From there, the gateway sends the data to the customer's financial institution for either approval or rejection. The gateway then sends the approval or rejection back to the merchant, who informs the customer.

How do I process an overseas payment?

This is usually handled via a bank wire transfer. Funds are electronically transferred from a customer’s to a recipient's (usually a merchant’s) bank account in a different country. Required details include the recipient's bank account number and SWIFT code. International payments can also be handled through 3rd-party online payment services such as PayPal or specialized international money transfer platforms like Wise. Additional factors include the timeframe required for the transaction as well as the amount of processing fees involved.
